Default Reading the news and came across this . . .

The New York Times posted an eye-opening article about the "reality" of gold farming. Seems some entrepreneurial Chinese have decided to make some profit off of American greed and their own cheap local labor. Even though gold farming has been around since online gaming, it is very interesting how this has become such an issue in today's games and economically viable due to cheap labor and globalization of economies. Is it right that Chinese players can "ruin" a game by farming gold and upsetting the balance of wealth in a game? Are they really ruining a game, or are they just providing a service to fulfill a desired need? Are American/lazy gamers the cause of this by feeding their own greed for a game's best loot? Who do you blame? Should devs do everything in there power to stamp this out? Or is this just a sign of the times? This article just exposes some of the brutal reality that we as gamers contribute to and participate in without even realizing it (unless you stop to think). Hopefully, some of you will stop and think about this article after reading it and post some replies.

There will always be a lazy, cheater gamer. Not just online games, but off line games as well, just look at game shark or action replay and how well they sold. The different is you're not hurting anyone in offline games, but in an online games the more gold you have, mean you can afford to be more powerful than anyone else, even in GW in someway.

I don't know what it's like there, and how much do $0.30 worth to them, but it's just their way of living, right? As long as there are demand for in game gold, they won't go away. It is their choice to be a gold farmer, nobody forced them to do it. And the buyer won't stop as well, because most people would rather take a short cut to be successful, both in game and real life.

I used to play another MMO called Final Fantasy XI and those players did ruin the game (or at least my server) but i'm Japanese so they wanted to talk to me by english (thank goodness i'm bilingual) but we got along so my whole image of getting mad at them changed to -> you know what, their human too..just like me, and what I've noticed by playing a lot of MMO is that ppl tend to forget that their actually playing with people that have their own "drama" so we always have to respect each other even if WE are having a tough time since, hey i mean how would everyone else know unless you tell them right? XD i know this is totally off topic (maybe) but i guess this is what this forum section is made for right? XD
